The Leagues Cup price screen has narrowed from a summer tournament to an eight-club sprint. Club America is first, Toluca has doubled in a week, and no team has separated enough to make the quarterfinals feel like a formality.

The case for America. America is the favorite because its Phase One did two things at once: it showed enough control to advance as LIGA MX's No. 2 seed, and it left a cleaner path than a normal away draw would. Las Aguilas beat San Diego FC and Portland by matching 3-1 scores, then drew Austin FC, 1-1, before losing the penalty shootout. That means America reached the quarterfinals unbeaten in regulation, with seven goals scored and a +4 goal differential. The tournament also gives America one of the two LIGA MX hosting privileges, though the Columbus match is assigned to Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson rather than Mexico City. The Columbus matchup carries recent history: America beat the Crew on penalties in the 2024 Campeones Cup. Brian Rodriguez's 2 goals and 2 assists in the first two Phase One matches give the favorite a direct attacking reason behind the price.
The case for Toluca. Toluca sits level with Real Salt Lake at 16%, but the seven-day move tells a cleaner story for second place: traders have taken Toluca from 8% to 16% as the knockout field locked in. The case starts before this tournament. MLSsoccer described Toluca as the top-ranked Phase One team because of its 2025 Liga MX Clausura, Apertura, and Campeon de Campeones titles, and its 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup win gives the Austin quarterfinal a different weight from a normal cross-league pairing. In Phase One, Toluca opened with a 3-0 win over defending Leagues Cup champion Seattle, lost late to LAFC, then beat FC Dallas 3-1 to advance at 2W-1L with a +4 goal differential. Federico Vinas scored in both victories. Like America, Toluca earned a hosting privilege and will face Austin at a designated neutral site, Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison.
America at 19% is a lead built on a tight field. Toluca and Real Salt Lake are both at 16%, Chicago is at 15%, and Columbus is still at 12% even while drawn into America.
That cluster matters more than the favorite label. A team priced under 20% can be first and still need three knockout wins against opponents that already survived Phase One. The quarterfinal layout also splits the tournament into two mixed-league lanes: Leon or Real Salt Lake will meet Toluca or Austin, while Monterrey or Chicago will meet America or Columbus.

August 25 brings Monterrey vs. Chicago and Leon vs. Real Salt Lake. August 26 brings Toluca vs. Austin and America vs. Columbus, with the America and Toluca matches also scheduled for FS1 and Spanish-language television. The semifinals follow September 1-2, and the final is September 6.
